Abs workouts you can do at home

You probably already know that you don’t need a gym membership to get sexy, toned abs you can show off. You also probably already know that you can do simple exercises, right at home, to get those abs, without making huge dents in your wallet or purse on those bulky exercise machines. But, you might be at a loss on how to begin or what kind of abs exercises will work best. Here are some easy exercises that will tone and tighten your abs in no time.

This first exercise is something I read online, which involves no exercise equipment whatsoever. What it does involve is a lot of breathing and tightening of the abs, so be prepared for the workout that you will get. First, stand up straight, with your arms perpendicular to the floor. Then, fold your hands behind your head, as if you were lying down relaxing on the beach. Then, bring up your left knee mid-way, as you keep your stomach tightened, and bring your right elbow to your left knee. Do with the left elbow and right knee, and keep repeating for at least one minute. I like to do this for at least five minutes, but for beginners, it’s best to rest every minute or so. Remember to keep your stomach tightened!

Of course, you can’t have great abs without doing some hard “crunch” work. But, this exercise will not only tone your abs, but also your obliques. So, lie flat on your back, with your knees bent, and put your hands behind your head like with the exercise above. But, you’re going to try to touch your right elbow to your left knee lying down like this. Bring up your head like with a regular crunch, but you will see that your obliques are going to get quite sore. When you have worked both sides, work on the abs.

This next exercise is really simple and again involves no fancy equipment. It’s called “the Superman.” All you have to do is get into a push-up position, but instead of resting your body on your palms, use your elbows. Clasp your hands to make this position easier. Then, keeping your stomach tight, hold the position for a good thirty to sixty seconds. Remember to breathe regularly, and to keep your body straight at all times. Letting your stomach get loose will put strain on your lower back.

The last great abs exercise is running. You can’t get great abs unless you work off most of your body fat, and the best way to do so is to run. You don’t even have to run ten miles every week; just run for at least thirty minutes a day. Keep your pace moderate or quite fast, but always remember to breathe regularly.

With these weapons in your arsenal, it won’t be long until you can flash bare, beautifully toned, sexy abs!
