Tighter abs without crunches?
Yes, you can get tighter abs without a lot of crunches but, what you need to know is that your abs are used
every time you lift, bend, twist, shift your balance or weight. Who doesn’t want a toned up abdominal
section? The first impression one tends to get when they see someone who has a bulged belly is that they
are out of shape. Well, to get those tight abs you need a variety of different exercises. There really isn’t any
shortcuts if you want great abs but, there are ways to get them tighter and toned. You will need to work
your abs at least 3 times a week, and do this for a minimum of 5 minutes a day, preferably 10 to 14 minutes
a day. If you have back pain and you work your abs consistently over a period of time, you may even help
to eliminate that back pain.
Ok, first we must get a few things straight here. When most people say, “abs”, they just mean your stomach
in general. You need to know that your abdominal area is basically divided into four different muscle
groups. I won’t go into much technical physical anatomy here but, I have listed below those four muscle
groups:
1. The Rectus Abdominis. This area attaches right below the breasts and extends down to the pubic region.
2. The External Oblique’s. This muscle group lies alongside the Rectus Abdominis group. It actually
attaches to the rectus abdominus.
3.The internal Oblique’s. This group is located under the external oblique’s. (Basically on your sides.
4. The Transverse Abdominis. This muscle group lays horizontally across the abs wall and under the
external and internal oblique’s.
Ok, now back to the question . Can a person get tighter abs without crunches? Yes and in a variety of
different ways. I’ll list some of the many ways in which you could possibly tighten all these areas and you
decide what is right for you. Now of course you would need to do at least one of these or a combination of
them on a regular basis and you should always consider your dietary habits if you want tight abs. You could
practice yoga, karate, weight training, body building, palates, boxing, aerobics, calisthenics, running, bike
riding, swimming, or even dancing. I could go on and on but to sum it all up, you need to do something that
makes you use all those muscles on a regular basis. You will also need to make sure you do not over eat
and stay away from fatty foods. Of course you can still tighten the ab area and be lazy but it would only be
temporary. Remember there is a difference between tighten and tone.
