Yes. It still rains in the South, right? Or do u ever go to the mountains for skiing? I mean I live in central California but I find ABS very useful on rainy days or mountain trips :)

ABS is always good regardless of weather. It means in an emergency you just press the brakes as hard as you can without worrying about locking the wheels. The other stuff you have to be stupid to need in the dry….. or someone else has to be stupid, with you in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Can anybody tell if you need all that stuff in your car if you live in the south or just warm hot states ???

I mean that if your car goes off sale you cant buy ESP because the company is dealing with newer cars.

You can but it has to be optional and you have to fit ESP on your car if the car you have goes off sale you can fit it on the easiest way.

Technically possible, yes, but probably not worth the amount it would cost to have it installed.
Best thing to do would be to sell your current car and buy a similar one with ESP. The difference shouldn’t be as much as having it fitted later.

*Note: This does depend on the age and type of car you mean.*

Don´t know if it helps, but I am planning to send my unit to Module Masters, the dealer charges somewhere in the vicinity of 2000 bucks for a new one, which will likely be exposed to heat and fail just the same, while these people can refurbish your unit for $300. I looked for a 2005 Ford Focus but the model is not listed in the menu. Maybe your brother can have this reference and save it for later, hope he doesn´t need them.

My brothers owns a Ford Focus 2005 and he just needed to replace the ESP/ABS unit and it cost an arm and a leg!

So if you get a car without ESP can you get it fitted later on is that possible?

I love having all these systems in my car, since I will be safer from morons in the street and the fact that I don´t drive aggressively, as many people tend to do when they have these systems. Unfortunately they are expensive things to repair when they fail, which is most of the time. Who hasn´t had the typical orange ABS-DSC light combination on their dashboards? Makes me wonder what is it with the quality of the electronics in these systems.
