With sit-ups If you lift your legs toward your chest as you come up – knees bent, it will hugely increase the effectiveness. Plus it will work your lower belly, whereas reagular crunches just work the top half. The secret is to make sure your legs don’t touch the ground. This will kill your belly, and you will feel the muscles really working hard. The further you bring your knees towards your face the better then stretch the legs out as you come down. Keep your lower leg parallel to the floor. Also, when you finish a set, do a really long stretch whist lying down.

Crunches and situps do the trick if you dont have a tummy you just want it to be tighter so you can skip them if you are trying to loose the tummy these things are for after the tummy is gone what you need is like going for a jog just stuff like that.

Crunches on an exercise ball. Easy to do, and great results!

Properly done crunches can’t be beat. If you do them and you don’t “feel the burn” add some weight. Use a weight and do some crunches. Keep getting a larger weights until you “feel the burn” in your abs. If you go to a gym they also have machines for abs. Do some crunches and then do another exercise for a different muscle and then come back and do some more crunches (with weight). You can even do these watching TV. See how many sets you can do during commercials. Questions e-mail me: Scott at scottc74@hotmail.com

you need to do cardio to first work off the fat in your abdominal area. doing just crunches won’t do anything if you can’t even see the muscle through the fat! once you do cardio, crunches on a workout ball is good as well as the pilates move, the plank (get in push up position but instead of on your hands, lower to your elbows. then stay in that position for about 30-60 seconds and then repeat again).
